Project overview
This two-story boathouse in Seattle, Washington, enjoys a prime waterfront location with stunning views of the city's famous Gas Works Park. The design maximizes its setting with a glazed façade and terraces facing both east and west. Neolith® Arctic White panels were used on the outside of the house and installed as a ventilated façade by means of chemical anchoring using the PanelTack™ ventilated façade adhesive system.
Bostik's solution
The floating house designed by Vandeventer + Carlander Architects in Seattle features a rectangular, two-story structure with nearly 150 m² of space. Situated by the water with views of Gas Works Park, it maximizes its location with a glass facade and east- and west-facing terraces. The challenge was to ensure balance and weight distribution to avoid excessive ballast and to prevent water infiltration. Bostik’s PanelTack™ HM adhesive was used to install Arctic White Neolith® panels as a ventilated façade. This system is up to 80% lighter than traditional mortar, reducing structural weight, and provides superior thermal and acoustic insulation. It also ensures water resistance and flexibility, accommodating the unique movements of a floating construction.
